AJ's kinda the most striking Backstreet Boy. Countless sunglasses, tattoos, rings, hats, various haircuts ... AJ's the exeption from the rules. But it's not just his appearance which makes AJ fascinating and remarkable. It's also his outgoing attitude which takes him to the center and AJ loves to be in the center of interest from his early childhood.
Although AJ grew up protected by his beloved mother -DENISE- and his grandparents ... it was hard to take that AJ's Dad left the family when AJ was at the young age of 5. Therefore, AJ tried to get as much attention as possible. He was entertaining his family and his friends all the time.
It was AJ's way to deal with having no father around him. So AJ's talent to act, to dance, to sing, and even to mimic persons showed up early. As his Mom wanted to see her son happy ... she gave her very best to make AJ's dreams about being an professional entertainer come true.
At the age of 7 AJ did his very first fashion show at a Boca Raton shopping mall and he loved to be on the catwalk and in the wardrobe with all these female, grown-up and sexy models! Besides that AJ took lessons in acting, singing, dancing, and playing the piano and he was in more than 30 productions at local theatres.
To complete AJ's multiple skills ... he's also known as a talented ventriloquist, puppeteer and he's even writing poems. Actually dancing was AJ's real passion but when he was 12 AJ and his Mom moved to Orlando because Denise thought that Orlando's the better place to improve AJ's abilities and his chances to make it in the showbiz.
A teacher at Denn John Middle School/Orlando figured out about AJ's soul-touching voice and AJ started with the choir. At the age of 15 AJ did a singing competition at a Latin festival ... one of his strongest competitors was a guy named Toni Donetti -also know as Howie Dorough- whom AJ met at several auditions before. At this competition AJ made it and poor Howie got beaten which was not too bad because a little later on ... Lou Pearlman wanted both of them to become a Backstreet Boy.
Nowadays ... you can see AJ's incredible appearance on stages all over the world. When AJ's doing his solo part "Lay Down Beside Me" ... there're kinda dirty dancing moves -beyond any choreography and beyond compare- AJ's impressing everybody in the audience. No matter if AJ's Your "fave" or not ... he just rocks because he's different.
As AJ always says ... the Backstreet Boys wouldn't be the Backstreet Boys without the fans. Although each and every Backstreet Boy's special in his very own way and we don't wanna miss ANY of them but ... the Backstreet Boys wouldn't be the Backstreet Boys without -BONE- ... the dirty dancer who adds the freaky thing to the group.
