Pirates Sequel Poster in Theaters
Walt Disney Pictures has distributed this first Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest teaser poster to theaters. The highly-anticipated first of two sequels, directed by Gore Verbinski, hits theaters on July 7, 2006.
This time around, Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow and is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out, Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack can't figure a crafty way out of this one, he'll be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And as if that weren't enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures. Black Pearl in Sailing Race
Be ye warned! There's a pirate ship headed for the high seas. When the Volvo Ocean Race starts Nov. 12 from Vigo, Spain, the sloop with the skull and crossed cutlasses on the sails will stand out from the rest of the fleet. The Black Pearl.
Although this Black Pearl won't slip mysteriously out of fog banks, and Johnny Depp won't be at the wheel as Capt. Jack Sparrow, The Walt Disney Co. has found a high-tech, floating billboard to promote "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," the first of two sequels to its surprise 2003 blockbuster, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."
Disney is backing the only U.S. entry in the 31,250-mile, nine-leg, around-the-world race that attracts only the hardiest of scabrous dogs, who must dodge icebergs in the Southern Ocean and navigate the Doldrums and even the Bermuda Triangle. Read More
Pirates of the CaribbeanDisney Online developing 'Pirates' multiplayer interactive game
To debut in 2006, game will be released with "Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest"
Disney Online, part of the Walt Disney Internet Group, is developing a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on the popular theme park attraction and franchise "Pirates of the Caribbean." The game is slated to debut in summer 2006, coinciding with the theatrical premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."
"We've learned through our experience with Toontown that the market for massively multiplayer online role-playing games can indeed reach beyond traditional gamers," stated Ken Goldstein, EVP and managing director, Disney Online. "Pirates of the Caribbean is the perfect franchise for our second commercial effort in this arena. Fans of the movies and theme park attraction will be able to live their own unfolding pirate adventure through the game, including searching for lost treasures and battling numerous enemies on land and at sea."
Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, added, "This is a great way for game enthusiasts to experience the fun and excitement of playing the role of a pirate while competing against a wide variety of opponents in a great adventure. This game captures the same swashbuckling sense of humor, spirit and action that moviegoers loved in the first `Pirates of the Caribbean' film, and which will continue with the next installment of the highly anticipated sequel in summer 2006. Disney Online has created a really entertaining and challenging game that will appeal to the adventurer in all of us."
The game is being designed by the Walt Disney Internet Group's acclaimed VR Studio as a world of high seas action and adventure where players will personalize their own pirate character and organize with other players to form a pirate crew. Players will then embark on swashbuckling missions to battle both each other and the evil, undead pirates of the high seas in an effort to become the Caribbean's most legendary pirate. Access to the game will be available directly online and players will pay a subscription fee for the service. An information site for the game has been launched at www.pirateslegend.com offering a registration service to sign up to receive future game updates and launch information.
Buena Vista Games (BVG), the videogame arm of The Walt Disney Company, will release additional titles based on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" for the PSP(TM) portable entertainment system and Nintendo DS(TM) in conjunction with the movie launch.

Sequel Title Officially Announced: Dead Man's Chest
Details regarding the sequels to "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" were revealed at Walt Disney Investor Conference Studio Presentation on Monday.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 2" will hit theaters summer of 2006, with the second movie following in the summer of 2007.
As reported on M&C the second installment will be called "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."
Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow and is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out, Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman.
The second installment will follow Captain Jack Sparrow as he tries to resolve a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack can not figure a crafty way out of this one, he will be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And as if that were not enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures.
Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley are all back for both sequels.

Two sequels at the same time with Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom
Jerry Bruckheimer revealed plans for not one, but two sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean. “We made a deal with Gore [Verbinski] to do 2 and 3. We made a deal with [Ted] Elliot and [Terry] Rossio who rewrote the first film. They did an outline for 2 and 3. They're writing number 2 right now and we're negotiating with all the actors.”
Bruckheimer plans to shoot the two Pirates sequels simultaneously (“That's the plan. It could change, but that's the plan.”) and have the story continue between the two sequels. “It will be continuing, but you'll definitely have an end at the end of two. The story will pick up again in three.”
Though they are negotiating, Bruckheimer is confident that the lead actors will return. “Johnny [Depp]'s really excited about doing it. You can ask Keira [Knightley]. I think she's excited about doing it and we'd love to have Orlando [Bloom] back. He's told Gore he wants to do it. So it comes down to if you can financially afford them because they've all become bigger stars than they were when we first started three years ago.”
And Geoffrey Rush? “That's going to be a secret. I'm not going tell you, but we have plans.”
Bruckheimer also hinted that the adventure could expand beyond the Caribbean. “It'll still be the Caribbean and we might go to Thailand, to the far east.”
For her part, Knightley had not heard the plans to do two sequels at once. “Really?” she asked. “There you go. That will be exciting. I hadn't heard any total confirmation. You've got more information than I have.”
Still, Knightley confirmed interest. “I think we all had such a fantastic time in the first one and I think everybody's desperate to do the second. And I know that the writers are writing away on it so it will be fabulous.”
